This Is Our House

Abdul Ameer Alwan, after the Iraq war, seeks refuge in the United States after having mixed emotions of loneliness and obscurity. Living in Iraq, he was a renowned painter who used his daily occurrences to inspire his artwork. Now, he is away from his artistic resource while going out of the country where he is unable to relate to his new habitat.

A month before the 2003 attack, Aman his daughter was born. Unfortunately, she has spent her entire life outside Iraq and only holds dim memories of her birthplace.

This documentary captivates the audience by taking a deeper look at a father and daughter’s bond through their ethnicity, separation, reminiscence and character.

To see this enthralling story come to the film festival in September.
